The scaffold strip
is going well here at Sandy Mount and we are hoping that it will all be down in
time for the Christmas holidays. Scaffold works had to stop temporarily last
week as winds reached 90 mph meaning it was too dangerous to work. Now the bad
weather has gone the scaffolders are progressing well.

Last week the team
at Sandy Mount took part in the annual Community Day which is held every year by
Wates across the country. The Sandy Mount team this year helped out at the
Linthwaite Ardron Church of England School where they helped out to restore the
wildlife area to its former glory. Works involved cutting paths into the area
and making habitat hotels. The team were also treated to a school dinner as a
thank you for helping out.
Helping Hand
To try and make
things easier for all the subcontractors on site, the site team here at
Sandy Mount have put up all the flat numbers so each operative gets a better feel
for the building and also they don't waste valuable working time trying to find
out where they are.

Golcar Gala 2013
Last weekend saw the annual Gala held in a village called Golcar. Organised by the local Parkwood scouting group the Gala raises money for charity and the scouts by inviting local businesses and other people to hold stalls there. With Wates having undertaken works in the area, they offered to help sponsor the Gala. As a result the team headed up by Sam Bray and Robert Frost, organised a stall to showcase what Wates had done in the area. In addition to this was the delivery to the Gala of a brand new JCB for the kids to have a look around and have their photo taken on. Ivor Goodsite also visited the gala to help out . The day was a resounding success.
A special thanks also to:

Tree Removal
Unfortunately, it is going to be necessary to remove four mature trees in order for the work on site to progress. The location of the trees in question is shown on the plan below (the trees are represented by orange circles). The trees are being removed in consultation with the Council’s tree officer, and all the trees will be replaced within the scheme. They will be replaced with species which have a smaller mature size and will therefore not cause problems to the Excellent Homes for Life site in the future.”
